COVIDCare
COVIDCare aimed to assess the broad effects of the COVID19 pandemic on the surgical workforce. With human ethics approval, survey distribution to a large cohort of surgical registrars across multiple specialties is currently in progress.
PROTECTinG
PROTECTinG has been the largest, multi-centre collaborative study pioneered by VERITAS to date. The index limb of PROTECTinG examined the risk of bleeding vs. thromboembolic events with chemoprophylaxis in the realm of elective general surgery, and led to further analysis on cholecystectomy specific cohorts as well as views and current implementation of chemoprophylaxis in active clinical practice.
Future phases of PROTECTinG currently underway include investigating the same parameters in elective hernia surgery and anti-reflux surgery (ARS).
POST VENTT
POSTVenTT was the latest research collaborative which VERITAS
has been involved with, as State Leads in Victoria.
The POSTVenTT (POST operative Variability in anaemia Treatment and Transfusion) audit aims to increase our understanding of variability in adherence to anaemia management guidelines and to assess the impact of anaemia management in clinical care following major surgery.
